This study is aimed to examine whether positive psychology-based group art therapy has some effects on
self resilience and school life adjustment of school-maladjusted adolescents. Positive psychology-based group
art therapy was implemented for the maladjusted adolescents of Seoul K middle school twice a week from
March 22, 2012 to May 10, 2012, each therapy lasted for 90 minutes and total 12 times. The maladjusted
students were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group, 9 students per each
group. In order to investigate the effects of this program, Park Eun Hee's Self Resilience Test(1996) and Lee
Kyu Mee's School Life Adjustment Scale Test(2005) were used, and as the drawing test for psychological
diagnosis, K-HTP and KSD were done before and after practicing the program. And then the resulting data
were analyzed by the SPSS 12.0 program and the covariance analysis method of ANCOVA for quantitative
analysis, and by both K-HTP and KSD to check the changes of before and after practicing the program for
qualitative analysis. Results of this study are as follows; First, among factors which affected total score
improvement for school maladjusted adolescents' self resilience and subordinate factors, this kind of group
art therapy showed significant effects on interpersonal relationships and vitality. Second, this kind of group
art therapy showed significant effects on improvement of such subordinate factors as school work, school
friends, school teachers and school life adjustment. Focused on strength to the positive aspects, but not to
the negative problems, this positive psychology-based group art therapy made the positive changes to self
resilience and school life adjustment of these school-maladjusted adolescents in this study.
