The purpose of this study was to examine whether DAPR(Draw-A-Person-in-the-Rain) assessment is useful as a tool to measure the level of parenting stress and ego-resilience of working mothers through identification of response characteristics of DAPR assessment and analysis on correlation between parenting stress, ego-resilience and DAPR assessment scores. To investigate this, parenting stress and ego-resilience level were measured and DAPR assessment was taken through 100 subjects, working mothers of infants and preschoolers living in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do area. Based on parenting stress and ego-resilience scores the participants were classified as a high, middle, and low group. Of these groups, the participants belonged to higher and lower group were analyzed by response characteristics of DAPR assessment using t-test. To analyze correlation between parenting stress, ego-resilience and DAPR assessment scores, Pearson correlation analysis was performed. SPSS 23.0 program was used for the process of data and the results were as follows; First, at stress area of DAPR assessment based on parenting stress level of working mothers, there was a significant difference in wetting of people. Second, at coping area of DAPR assessment based on parenting stress level, there were significant differences; the total coping ability score, abstinence of facial smile, good quality line, and omission of body part. Third, at stress
area of DAPR assessment based on ego-resilience level, there were significant differences; total stress score, rain, direction of rain, and wetting of people. Fourth, at coping area of DAPR assessment based on ego-resilience level, there were significant differences; total coping ability score, umbrella, facial smile, good quality line, and omission of body part. Fifth, parenting stress was positively correlated with stress area, and negatively correlated with coping area of DAPR assessment. Ego-resilience was negatively correlated with stress area, and positively correlated with coping area of DAPR assessment. Therefore, as the result of this study proves the usefulness of DAPR assessment in measuring parenting stress and ego-resilience of working mothers, this implies that DAPR assessment can be used as a measurement tool for stress management of working mothers living in the modern society.
