"Research methods for social work, performing a role offering framework of policies and systems of welfare service as academic foundation of social welfare, offer us ways to settle social problems through not only detecting current need of welfare service but also forecasting prospective needs of future with scientific·synthetic means. This article purposes to compare the merits and demerits of quantitative study that employs statistics in deductive reasoning based on logical positivism and qualitative study that reports the result in narrative form in inductive inference based on case study.
